Hi, my name is Gemma. I’m 31, and married to my childhood sweetheart, Luke. Thanks to Your IVF Journey, I now have a one-year-old little girl called Josie.
In the summer and autumn of 2017 we underwent two cycles of self-funded IVF at our most local clinic, firmly believing that this would be the way we would successfully add to our little family.
We had been trying for a baby for about three years before we decided to speak to our doctor. After some initial tests, which failed to find a reason for our struggles, we requested fertility treatment and were approved funding for a single round of IVF.
Mark and I met later in life. It soon became obvious we would be spending the rest of our lives together. I was thrilled when I fell pregnant naturally at 39, but things sadly didn’t go to plan.
When I met my husband, I knew our journey to parenthood would be tough. Geoff had children in a previous relationship, after which he had a vasectomy. After a couple of years together we knew we wanted to try for children of our own.
